Other than this there are also hard disk based camcorders lurking around. Sony DCR-DVD650 has one feature that might lure you in to the deal: the ability to create the DVDs on the spot.

Design Aspects:
Sony DCR-DVD650 is available in black and silver colors only. It has a compact shape. The hand-strap and DVD drive gives a comfortable grip. You can flip out the 2.7-inch LCD display.
About Controls:
The DVD drive is located on the right side. A start/stop button sits on the back. You will find the zoom rocker and shutter release button on the top. Memory Stick Pro Duo card slot, mini-USB port button and display information button are located behind the LCD screen. A small door hiding the A/V output is located beneath the lens. You will find the Easy mode button, switch to change from recording to playback mode and a button to adjust exposure on left side of the lens.
Observed Quality:
The overall video quality of Sony DCR-DVD650 is soft in Tele Macro mode. There is visible noise and artifacts with purple fringe on the video clips while viewing in Full Screen. However, these video clips are good at YouTube dimensions. The white-balance, colors and exposure are good, but still the highlights look blown out. There is a good amount of artifacts and noise in low light videos. If you still like the low resolution recordings only for video sharing Web sites like YouTube, then the DCR-DVD650 is fine for you.
