Camcorder Buying Guide

Question about Hi8 video camera tapes?

My boyfriend has a Hi8 tape that we really want to watch. However he no longer has a camera that will take the type of tape. We were looking for an adapter for it so it can play in the VCR but they obviously don't make them for Hi8's. How can we watch this tape? I have a newer camcorder but it won't fit in mine. Do you know of anything?
